I took The Bear to the cinema today. Or the Big Telly, as she calls it. Her choice of film. She decided against the Pixar showboating that is WALL E due to peer pressure. One of her friends at nursery had seen Kung Fu Panda, so that decided it. I couldn’t persuade her to see Journey To The Center of The Earth. Have you ever tried describing 3D to a five-year-old? And it turns out that there are no little donkeys in Donkey Punch, so Kung Fu Panda it had to be.
I think I enjoyed it more than The Bear did. I was pleasantly surprised by the animation as for some reason I had expected it to be flat cell. Not much in the way of plot, but plenty of stuff to look at and music by the ubiquitous Hans Zimmer. Made the mistake of sitting too near the screen, though, which meant that much of the fast-moving kung fu action just turned into a blur.
